Wildlife Officer cruise place filled!

The Wildlife Officer place with P&O cruises has now been filled

Dear all,

I am pleased to announce that P&O Cruises have once again offered ORCA Wildlife Officer places on board their cruise ships for the 2018 season.

Due to a cancellation, we have one female Wildlife Officer space available on the following cruise;

  • · P&O Cruises – A821, departs 11th August, returns 25th August, (female space available) sailing Bay of Biscay, Spain, Monaco, Italy, Bay of Biscay – link to cruise here www.pocruises.com/a821/

Once on board, all accommodation (in twin-bedded cabins with en-suite facilities) and food is provided free.

The team on this cruise will consist of two Wildlife Officers.  You will be required to deliver 5 45-minute long presentations (provided by ORCA) and conduct daily deck watches from sunrise to sunset whilst at sea.

The Wildlife Officer should ideally have whale watching experience across the area being surveyed, have field experience of the cetaceans commonly seen, have conducted at least one Saga ORCA survey, have extensive experience in delivering presentations to a range of audiences and customer service experience.  The Wildlife Officers are responsible for writing the Wildlife Report for passengers.  The Wildlife Officers will give a series of PowerPoint presentations throughout the cruise (provided by ORCA), and a wildlife round-up talk at the end of the cruise that they will create themselves, using photographs from the trip.

This opportunity would also provide someone wishing to train up as a Wildlife Officer valuable at sea experience.

We are also able to offer a small salary for this cruise.  Details on the salary will be sent to anyone expressing interest.

Requirements for Applicants

You will need to be at least 21 years old at the time of the cruise, have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of the cruise and travel insurance to cover the period of the cruise.
