ORCA's first cruise of 2019 included some sensational sightings on board P&O Cruise's Ventura.
ORCA Cruise Conservationists Heather Bodie and Sunita Brazil boarded in Southampton on 4th January on a mammoth itinerary visiting the Azores, Madeira and the Caribbean, and the trip lived up to expectations!
Some highlights included breaching pygmy sperm whales, a rare glimpse of pygmy killers whales and even a sighting of a whale that was suspected to have just given birth! Even more exciting was two new ORCA firsts - sightings of pantropical spotted dolphins and Clymene dolphins, both species that haven't previously been sighted by an ORCA team.
As well as unforgettable sightings, the team had the chance to meet some amazing guests and crew aboard Ventura during the first of five trips with P&O Cruises in 2019.
A full cruise report will follow soon, but a huge thank you to the entire P&O Cruises team for making Heather and Sunita so welcome on board! We can't wait for our next trip to Norway later this month.
