With 1466 animals sighted in just over one month, it’s been an incredible start for our Wildlife Officers on board Brittany Ferries Cap Finistere.
The most exciting sightings were the 3 orca moving up the continental shelf edge, North of Bilboa. Sightings of orca are far from common in the Bay of Biscay and this was the earliest we have ever sighted and recorded them. The bridge crew seemed just as excited as our Wildlife Officers along with some lucky passengers that had joined them out on deck.
Over the past few weeks the distinctive blow of fin whales are becoming a common occurrence with passengers not believing just how many they are seeing.
The first month for our Wildlife Officers has proved just how wonderful and surprising the Bay of Biscay can be and we hope this is a sign of things to come.
Keep up to date with Laura, Heather and Sam’s latest sightings by reading their weekly blogs and if you want to discover the wonders of the Bay of Biscay for yourself why not book onto one of our unforgettable Sea Safaris this summer.
