Wildlife Officers aboard the Cap Finistere have a once in a lifetime sighting of a humpback whale in the Bay of Biscay
ORCA Wildlife Officers aboard the Brittany Ferries vessel were heading across the Bay of Biscay and enjoying a multitude of sightings when they spotted a large, dense blow and saw the animal surface.
On closer examination, the team saw a distinctive hump and white pectoral fins, sure signs they had seen a humpback whale. This is a rarity in the Bay of Biscay, with only a handful of previous ORCA sightings in these waters.
Humpback whales are an iconic species seen across the globe and often entertain with breaching and playing, making them a favourite of whale watchers.
You can read more about the encounter, plus the rest of the season, in our Wildlife Officer blog.
