The ORCA team have issued an update about the charity and our plans for the coming weeks and months.
As a result of the widespread suspension in passenger shipping, the ORCA team have been furloughed under the UK government scheme and the charity has suspended operations until further notice.
By taking this decision, we are safeguarding the future of our charity, so that we can look forward to working with our amazing volunteers and partners to safeguard whales and dolphins around the world after this crisis is over.
As a result of this suspension of operations, any emails sent to ORCA during this time will not be monitored or responded to, and if you need a reply from the team you should contact us again once we have returned to work.
Below is a list of further guidance related to specific queries:
Surveys: If your enquiry is related to Marine Mammal Surveys, please check the Surveyor Network News page for the most up to date information on the status of our survey programme.
Education: Unfortunately our ORCA Lessons have ended, but you can still access 20 fantastic lessons on the ORCA Lessons page if you want to learn more about whales and dolphins during lockdown.
Marine Mammal Surveyor Courses: If your enquiry is related to our training courses you can find out more information here. Please note that we will be contacting those who have booked on to our training courses 2-4 weeks prior to the course to confirm any information, so please do not worry if you do not hear anything from us before then.
ORCA Sea Safari trips: Please contact Brittany Ferries (quoting your booking reference where applicable) for any enquiries related to ORCA Sea Safari trips for 2020, or visit our Sea Safari page to find out more.
We cannot wait to get back out to sea, helping to protect whales and dolphins through our wonderful network of citizen scientists. in the meantime we hope all our supporters, volunteers and partners stay safe at this challenging time and keep an eye on our social media channels and websites for further announcements later in the year.
