Dear all,

We are delighted to be letting you know about an exciting new mini cruise launching with CalMac in the Hebrides, please see details below:

Hebridean Minicruise, Oban to Castlebay and back, Wednesday 28 August 2019.

Departing Oban 0715, returning 2130 *

*NB this is a non – landing cruise and is for foot passengers only.

CalMac Ferries is teaming up with ORCA to  give you a unique opportunity to  explore the Hebrides on a mini cruise on board  MV The Clansman and at the same time learn more about ORCA’s work in Scotland. This is a fantastic opportunity to talk to ORCA Wildlife Officer and Team Leader Andy Gilbert about his experience, as well as practice surveying skills and spend time at sea with other ORCA volunteers in an incredible habitat.

The mini cruise will take place on Wednesday 28th August and will include a crossing from Oban via, the Sound of Mull, the islands of Coll and Tiree and  then on  to Castlebay on the island of  Barra, before returning on the same route.

You will join ORCA Wildlife Officer Andy Gilbert during the crossing, and after boarding the ship will join him for a short talk discussing the islands you will see during the crossing and also find out more about ORCA’s innovative partnership with CalMac.

Once clear of the Sound of Mull, it will be time to get out on deck looking at for some of the amazing species that can be seen, ranging from minke whales to Risso’s dolphins to basking sharks. You will also be able to enjoy the stunning scenery and learn more about life on these islands.

Places on this minicruise are available for just £30.30 per person  (adult foot passenger  – child return £15.20) and it offers a great chance to put your ID skills into practice and help us to collect more data in the Hebrides to support our ongoing conservation work in the area.

To book, simply call 0800 066 5000 and quote  ‘ORCA non-landing crossing from Oban’

We hope you will be able to join us, and look forward to seeing you all soon!
