DFDS holds the award of world’s leading operator and operates on some of the busiest shipping routes in UK waters.
With ships crossing the English Channel, North Sea and Baltic Sea daily, DFDS operate both passenger and freight shipping services, and have been working in partnership with ORCA for more than ten years.
ORCA run a Wildlife Officer programme aboard the King Seaways on the DFDS Newcastle to Amsterdam route, with a team of two working out of our dedicated Wildlife Centre on board.
We are also trialling a brand new Wildlife Officer programme in the English Channel in 2018, working on the Dieppe - Newhaven route from June to August.
We have also partnered with DFDS on a range of survey routes, including the critical Newcastle to Amsterdam route that has been key in making our North Sea data the most comprehensive of any region.
ORCA are proud to partner DFDS and we are looking forward to continuing to protect the range of species in the North Sea, from harbour porpoises to minke whales, for many years to come.
